Remote Education

Remote Education

At The Beeches Primary School, we believe that pupils learn best when they are in school, learning alongside their teachers and classmates. Regular attendance is essential for pupils’ education, wellbeing and wider development.

In line with Department for Education guidance, remote education will only be considered in exceptional circumstances where attendance at school is not possible, but a pupil is well enough to continue learning. Remote education is not an alternative to attending school and will normally be provided only for a limited period.

Where remote education is required, we aim to provide high-quality, meaningful and appropriately ambitious learning which reflects, as far as practicable, the curriculum pupils would receive in school. Provision will be appropriate to pupils’ age and stage of development and may include teacher-directed activities, independent work, reading and suitable online resources.

We recognise that pupils have different needs and circumstances. Appropriate consideration will therefore be given to pupils with SEND, access to technology, the home learning environment and the need for suitable breaks from screen-based activities. Where necessary, we will work with parents and carers to help pupils access their learning.

Safeguarding remains our highest priority during periods of remote education. Our usual safeguarding and child protection procedures continue to apply, including arrangements for online safety and for maintaining appropriate contact with pupils and families.

For individual pupils, any use of remote education will be considered on a case-by-case basis and, where appropriate, as part of a plan to support the pupil’s return to school as soon as possible.

Parents and carers who have questions about remote education or who experience difficulties accessing provision should contact Karen Mallott (Deputy Headteacher) or Will Fisk (Headteacher).
