The Beeches School develops children’s knowledge & skills -

Encourages their awareness & understanding -

Supports them in their learning –

Identifies barriers to their learning, providing strategies to support them -

Celebrates with them their successes.

Our broad, precise and ambitious curriculum enables every child to meet or exceed expectations.

Vision

By 2027, every child will perform to the best of their abilities, regardless of their start points, needs and challenges.  Every child and staff member feels valued and thrives in a school community where children gain the skills and knowledge to help pave the way for their future selves; life-long learning prepares them for a changing world.

Our Aims and Values

1.        Excellence.  To strive for excellence, encouraging high standards and enabling our children to become confident, independent learners.

2.        Caring.  To consistently nurture caring relationships, pro-social behaviour, empathy and taking care of our own well-being.

3.        Collaboration.  To create a collaborative partnership between home, school, and the wider community, providing high-quality information and good communication to overcome barriers to learning.

4.        Reflection.  To develop personal, spiritual, and moral values to promote tolerance, equality and respect for ourselves, others, and the environment.

5.        Curiosity.  To develop curious minds through encouraging children to ask questions and explore why things happen and how they work.

6.        Resilience.  To develop resilience and use mistakes as a tool for learning.

7.        Creativity. To encourage children to use their imaginations, think outside the box and try new things.

8.        Articulate. To develop our children’s ability to speak confidently, expressing their feelings and opinions.

9.        Sustainability. To develop our children’s understanding of sustainability, and how they can support a sustainable environment in their school, homes, and communities.

Behaviour Principles

This Behaviour Principles Written Statement has been approved by the Governing Body of The Beeches Primary School. It sets out the principles that guide the Headteacher in developing and implementing the school’s Behaviour Policy.

Our Principles

  1. High Expectations and Positive Relationships
The Governing Body believes that high standards of behaviour are essential to ensure that all pupils can learn, feel safe and thrive. We promote a positive, respectful and nurturing school culture in which strong relationships are at the heart of behaviour management.

  2. Behaviour as Communication
We recognise that behaviour is a form of communication and that pupils’ social, emotional and mental health needs may influence how they behave. Our approach supports pupils to understand and regulate their emotions, develop pro-social behaviours and learn from their experiences.

  3. Consistency, Fairness and Proportionality
Behaviour expectations apply to all pupils and are implemented consistently. Responses to behaviour will be fair, proportionate and age-appropriate, taking account of individual needs and circumstances.

  4. Safeguarding and Wellbeing
The physical and emotional wellbeing of pupils and staff is central to all behaviour decisions. Behaviour management will always support safeguarding responsibilities and promote a safe and supportive learning environment.

  5. Inclusion and Equality
The school is committed to meeting its duties under the Equality Act 2010. Reasonable adjustments will be made to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities or other additional needs. Pupils will not be treated less favourably because of a protected characteristic.

  6. Positive Behaviour and Self-Discipline
We believe in encouraging positive behaviour through praise, recognition and support, helping pupils to develop self-discipline, responsibility and respect for others.

  7. Use of Sanctions'  Sanctions will always be fair, proportionate, and applied in a way that is respectful and maintains pupils’ dignity.

  8. Partnership with Parents and Carers
We value strong partnerships with parents and carers and believe that working together supports positive behaviour and successful outcomes for pupils.

Role of the Governing Body

The Governing Body will support the Headteacher in maintaining high standards of behaviour and will monitor the effectiveness of the Behaviour Policy to ensure it reflects these principles and is applied consistently.
